JAZZ SATURDAYS AT THE STATION
Featuring rotating jazz musicians each week.
This week’s musicians: CORASON
CoraSon takes its name from the Spanish word for “heart” (corazon), and son, a style of Cuban music. This acoustic trio of guitar/vocals, sax, and hand drums plays Latin styles from Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Cuba, and Carrboro. It is music intended for dancing, swaying, and singing along—even if you don’t know all the words.
Band members Pablo Valencia, Robert Cantrell, and Lisa Lindsay are veterans of the Chapel Hill/Carrboro/Durham music scene, having played together and separately in a range of Latin, jazz, Afrobeat, and other bands over more than a decade. Together they produce tight arrangements, sparkling improvisation, and memorable melodies.
