CASEY WILLIAMS w/ BUNCH & YOUNG YONDER
“Rhythm and Twang, Vibe and Jangle.” That’s the phrase Casey Williams uses to describe his music, a tastefully crafted combination of R&B Soul, Country twang, 1970’s California harmonies, and 80’s College Radio hooks.
Bunch is the new rock outfit led by Alabama native songwriter Heath Underwood (formerly of El Cantador – This Is American Music/Friends Fight Records). This new collection of songs, featured on the 2016 debut release Forever My Sparring Partner, speak to the restless and dissolute, the misunderstood and the forsaken, the lonesome and introspective – it comes from the best we can give and when folks are at their worst. The tone and the sound owe a major debt to artists and recordings of the 70’s, and it has the gall to steal a wink at personal guitar/songwriting hero types like Stephen Malkmus, Nick Drake, J Mascis, and Nels Cline.
Young Yonder is a band of North Carolina natives who embrace a variety of Southern musical traditions, including: Folk, Blues, Country, and Roots Rock, woven fluidly throughout the tapestry of the individual songs. Described as “music for the homesick,” the music of Young Yonder displays a sense of longing, of loss, but, ultimately, of hope.
