ARROW BEACH w/ THE STARS EXPLODE
From the fertile musical landscape of central North Carolina comes Arrow Beach. Stacked with veterans of the NC rock scene Arrow Beach is plowing new musical territory that is a departure from those involved. the music of arrow beach is expertly laden with pop hooks, deep grooves, clanging and/or jangly guitars and classic keyboard atmospherics. sitting on top of it all are the mesmerizing vocals of John Ensslin (What Peggy Wants, Marat, The Breaks). handling the guitars, keyboards and recording duties is Mike Nicholson (Stratocruiser). Andy Ware (Dillon Fence, Hobex, London Dungeon) handles the low end on bass guitar and Amy Hall (Multiples, Heart Brigade) sits behind her green sparkle Ludwig drum kit and handles percussive duties. Arrow Beach’s sound is a melange of pop/rock hooks laced with art-rock aspirations, punk energy and urgent rhythms that will rattle the cheap seats.
THE STARS EXPLODE
The Stars Explode started as a kind of vanity solo project by DougEdmunds, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and founding member of critically acclaimed ’90s power pop outfit, Gladhands. Taking a Todd Rundgren/Jon Brion DIY approach, Edmunds tracked the first TSE record almost entirely alone at home, layering one part after another, while staying true to the limitations of his 8-track analog format. By summer 2008, he found himself with a bona fide solo album. Since then, the group has evolved through several lineups and has included along the way former(and current) members of the dBs, Violet Vector and the Lovely Lovelies, Steve Earle’s Dukes, the Wild Giraffes, and Fan Modine.
